photos: the last forty percent

I have always been fascinated with a photographs ability to communicate to us. Quite often a picture reminds us of a distant moment, an old friend or allows us to feel part of something we missed. As time passes, photographs become some of the most treasured items we own.

I photographed my first wedding in grade 10 with an old manual film camera and I processed and printed the black and white film in my basement darkroom. There was one image in particular that stood out to me and that was when my passion for photography began. I started assisting other wedding photographers as well as continuing to casually photograph weddings of friends and family over the years. During that time I also worked as a graphic designer but I decided to attend college, where I received my diploma in photography. It was not too long until my passion grew into a full time career.

I am always seeking out a new image that is better than my last. I take great pride in my work and I truly believe that the responsibility of photographing such an important day extends much further than just showing up with a "good camera". Because of this I strive to make you feel comfortable in front of the camera as well as providing a smooth process from start to finish. My approach is mostly natural and "un-posed" along with capturing the small yet meaningful moments as the day unfolds.

I have an excellent group of people alongside me; Jen, my wife who constantly encourages me and keeps me organized, my absolutely beautiful children Chloe & Liam and some extremely talented shooters and assistants who help make all of this possible. I have met so many great people over the years and can honestly say some clients have become friends. Helen's love of photography began while she was enrolled in the Art Program at HB Beal and it continued to college where she received her diploma in Applied Photography. She has 17 years of professional experience and her expertise excels in wedding, family, child, maternity and artistic boudoir photography.
